Los Angeles County is projected to add 42,400 health care jobs by 2026, and the educational systems preparing students for those roles are at a critical moment. I collaborated with a small team to produce the labor market and education data analysis for this regional report, applying an equity lens to combine workforce supply and demand data to help K-16 leaders understand where the pipeline needs strengthening and how to act.
The result: a clear roadmap for closing workforce gaps and expanding affordable pathways into family-sustaining health care careers.
During the pandemic, Oakland's eviction moratorium cut eviction filings sharply, but whether it actually slowed homelessness remained unclear. I built a regression discontinuity model using 311 call data and Census Pulse survey data to test the moratorium's effect on housing stability, connecting policy timing to real outcomes on the ground.
The result: Evidence that the moratorium slowed the growth of homelessness, and a case for phasing out tenant protections gradually instead of cutting them off all at once.
Since 2014, homelessness in Oakland has risen 83%, with Black residents 42 times more likely to be affected than white residents. I analyzed structural drivers (rents, gentrification, labor instability) alongside disparity data to produce this brief, applying an equity lens to show where systemic racism intersects with housing loss and where policy can act.
The result: A case for why Oakland's housing policy needs to address root causes of homelessness.

California's adult education and community college systems train thousands of students each year, but labor market data and program data have historically lived in separate systems. Through my work with WestEd, I built an interactive dashboard connecting wage and job opening data to adult ed course enrollment and community college awards, giving regional leaders one place to see supply and demand side by side.
The result: A tool K-16 and workforce leaders can use to steer training investment toward the careers that actually pay.
Counselors and CTE coordinators are often handed powerful data tools without the time or training to use them well.
Through my work with WestEd for the LA Regional Consortium, I built a step-by-step training guide for the College & Career Opportunity Map Builder, walking K12 users through filtering by CTE sector, school, and program to connect coursework with wages, job openings, and postsecondary pathways.
The result: A guide that turns a complex dataset into something a busy counselor can use in one sitting.
